About My Summer Internship
Internship With Bergen County Commissioner Tracy Zur
During the summer between my junior and senior years, I had the opportunity to intern for Tracy Zur, a county commissioner in Bergen County. At first, I did not know what that meant, but during my time here, I learned about the importance of county government and its reach into people's lives.
I served as a team lead for the intern cohort and earned the trust of senior staff to help manage daily workflow and oversee ongoing projects. My responsibilities include researching and writing multiple white papers and proposals for various initiatives.
As a group, my intern cohort worked on many different projects. Two examples are (1) organizing contact information of various non-profits and community groups for outreach to support partnerships and (2) managing Commissioner Zurs' social media content calendar, which included designing graphics and writing captions for cultural observances and civic holidays, as well as curating media for specialty months such as Hunger Action Month.
Because of Commissioner Zur's dedication to educating us on county government, we toured multiple county facilities and programs to gain firsthand insight into county operations and services.
